The Ct6 Contemporary Art Group was set up in 2001 by a group of graduate artists in Herne Bay. Quite often artists tend to work in an isolated way and the formation of the Ct6 group has helped to bring together people of like-minds. Our aims are to exhibit together and provide a forum for contemporary art in Herne Bay. We also want to work as a pressure group to try to provide facilities for people in our area.

We are responsible for the day-to-day running of the Bay Art Gallery (see Bay Art Gallery page for more information) which is a not-for-profit concern, and ensure that it is used as extensively as possible by artists chiefly in Kent - the idea being to give emerging artists and others, the opportunity of exhibiting in a proper gallery without the high cost which sometimes is off-putting.

Artists are expected to sit with their work during their exhibitions - we always find this is particularly rewarding not only to the artist but also to the visiting public who are usually only too pleased to discuss the work on display.
